Sinking

The Rapala Countdown is a sinking countdown minnow for anglers who want depth control instead of guessing where the lure is running.

Let it sink to the level you want, then begin the retrieve through that lane rather than hoping a floating lure reaches the fish.

A steady retrieve gives the cleanest minnow swim, while small twitches and pauses make it look like bait losing balance.

The count-down style is especially useful around current seams, drop-offs, harbour walls, streams, and places where fish sit below the top layer.

It is strongest when fish are not fully on the surface but still feeding on small baitfish.

The limitation is snag risk: because it sinks, do not dead-stop it over shallow rock, weed, or timber unless you know the depth.

TARGET SPECIES: trout, perch, bass, sea bass, chub, flatfish, bream, and predators feeding on small to mid-sized baitfish around edges and current.
